Quick Guide for Freelancers – MemoQ Server
This is a quick guide for translators and proofreaders working on BeConnected’s MemoQ Server.
You should always use latest the version MemoQ, which you can download here.
You will receive an email from MemoQ BeConnected with general information about the project and a link to the MemoQ server.
You need a username and a password to log in which will be provided by the Recourse Coordinator.
When you receive a new project, do the following to work on the server:
1. Open MemoQ and click on Check out from server.
2. Choose 91.230.230.252 from the drop-down list and click Select.
Here you should be able to see all projects assigned to you. You have to check the email or PO to see which project you should work on.
3. Click on the project you want to work on and choose Check out project.
The project will open and you should be able to see all files.
4. Translate or proofread the document.
Translate or proofread the documents in MemoQ based on the role you have been assigned. Double click on a file to open it for editing.
Confirm your changes with Ctrl+Enter. If you have any further any questions about how to work with MemoQ please email your Project Manager.
5. Run QA.
When you have completed the translation/proofreading, mark all documents (CTRL+A), click on Quality assurance from the Preparation tab and choose Run QA.
When the window pops up, make sure that Selected documents is chosen to also check the box for Create view of inconsistent translation, and click OK.
Check any issues and either correct them or mark them as Ignored if they are false.
6. Deliver the project.
When the project has been completed and QA checked, mark all documents right click and chose Deliver/Return.
7. Close the project and you are done 🙂
If you don´t want to work on the server or if you are working from a Mac you can click on the link in the hand-off email and work directly in your browser.
This option does not require you to download or install any software.
Log in with the username and password for MemoQ provided to you by BeConnected.
